This is a supportive and encouraging space where you have the chance to practice, take chances and make mistakes in a safe and supportive environment. You will hone your natural talent while you learn/build on necessary skills required for acting. There are no prerequisites for this class. Material and activities will be adjusted to your level/interest.

This is your weekly workout.

- Isaac Droscha

Part of our Actors Toolkit series - The focus is on basic improv skills, listening, and staying in the moment.

Introduction to improv One of the most useful tools for an actor is improv. This short course will serve as an introduction to improv both comedic and dramatic to simply open up the actor’s mind, let go of reservations, stay in the moment, listen, and say yes. This class is great for those with limited to no improv experience or those who simply want to branch out into an alternative form of improv. Experienced and beginning actors are both welcome.

The Actors Toolkit: Scene Study with Jai (ONLINE)

- 3 weeks $1000

Saturdays 9-11am
/ TBD

- Jai Day

Part of our Actors Toolkit series - The focus is on building, improving and maintaining the fundamental skills of a professional, well rounded performer.

This is an ongoing class in 3 week blocks. Within each block we will dive deep into one scene and really work on exploring and getting the most out of the text and your scene partner. This is your weekly workout.

The industry has veered towards online submissions and self tapes and the sooner we can get comfortable with the format, the better.

With the online structure of this class, we will aim to focus your work, deepening your connection to it and connecting to your partner and objective in an honest and direct way. To that end, we will be exploring techniques to plant emotional landmines, connect to the text and your partner on a deeper level and work on moving the work from your head into your body. We will also work on honing your self tapes.

The aim will be to work on your scene and gain feedback so that you can film it for your reel and leave with footage that anyone would be proud to show a casting director.

Although the sessions will be online, you will be expected to rehearse in person where possible.

This is a mixed level class.

Don’t let the audition get in your way!

Join Jai for a 2 day intensive that will teach you surefire ways to take your auditions to the next level and teach you how to prepare whether you’ve had the script for 2 minutes or 2 weeks.

We will focus on improving skill and comfort in high pressure audition scenarios with a focus on ‘on-camera’ technique. Cold reading, Call backs and even Self Tapes will be covered.

Sessions will be in front of the camera and recorded for your analysis.

Homework will be required between classes.

Stop Acting

- 2 day intensive

$2000

/ TBD

- Davina Cooke

This workshop is a weekend intensive for those looking to stop performing and start living in the work, drawing on the philosophy, techniques and methods of Sanford Meisner.

The course will focus on specific techniques to get you out of your ‘head’ and into the moment. Becoming comfortable with putting the focus on your scene partner and the immediate surroundings will allow you to stop 'acting' and start living in your work.

Actors will be expected to come with material prepared as assigned before the workshop and spend time in the evening between the two sessions working as well as to have a copy of ‘Sanford Meisner on Acting’ as a companion to the course.

- Isaac Droscha

Part of our Actors Toolkit series - The focus is on building, improving and maintaining the fundamental skills of a professional, well rounded performer.

Join professional Opera Singer and Actor Isaac Droscha on a 6 week course that will awaken and develop the expressive potential of your vocal instrument.

You can expect to explore the basic techniques of breath support and projection, as well as develop the overall range, colour, timbre, and other expressive qualities of your voice.

We will look at text study and how different genres relate to the voice, using the voice as source for character inspiration and how to manipulate it when necessary for a role.

We will also cover an introduction to thinking about dialects and accents; diction as acting; phrasing and beats; voice for camera, stage, and studio sound (voice over and radio).

A tremendously useful class for any actor.

Actors Workshop

- 8 weeks

/ TBD

- Jai Day & Isaac Droscha

This is the class for the working actor and those aspiring to a professional career in the industry.

We focus on all aspects of Audition technique, Script analysis, On-camera work and in depth partner work including ‘how’ to rehearse and transform your work from ‘good’ to living, breathing and urgent.

Actors are expected to commit multiple hours outside of class to rehearsal each week and must be off-book when required.

There is no specific Methodology focus here although techniques traditionally associated with particular methods may be employed. Actors can bring whatever background they are comfortable with to the work.

- Coming soon

This is a weekly meet up with no course structure and no commitment. Put up whatever you are working on, from an audition, to a physical theatre piece, to that one woman show you’ve been dreaming of and workshop it or get feedback in a safe, creative space.

-

This is the class for Actors of any level that would like to improve their work and exercise the craft without the extracurricular commitment of the Actors Workshop.

Homework will be minimal with the focus on skill acquisition, refinement and technique work (Improv, vocal, physical etc) culminating in a ‘friends and family’ showcase.

Actors should come with an open mind, open heart and be ready to play.
